China Think-Tank Forum & CDI Shenzhen Annual Meeting 2016, co-hosted by China Development Institute and Shenzhen Soft Science Development Foundation, was held on August 6 in Shenzhen.

Under the theme of “Going Global: Pathway, Risk & Innovation”, the forum discussed how Chinese companies can compete and cooperate with international counterparts to achieve mutual benefits and win-win development. Also, SMEs and other emerging industries were encouraged to give full play to their distinct advantages and get more involved in the global economic arena.

Wei Jianguo, Vice Chairmen of CCIEE (L), hopes enterprises from Shenzhen can act as the role model for companies along Belt and Road Initiative. Pro. Fan Gang, President of CDI (R) believes the fast growth of outbound investment serves as a good way to mitigate recent nationwide all-time high saving rate.

According to Prof. Huang Yiping, Vice Dean of NSD (L), problems about China’s economic structual reform boil down to “zombie companies”. Pro. J. George Wang, Executive Director of the SME Research Center of Peking University HSBC Business School (R) suggests Chinese business well assess global market demand, investment environment, legal system, human resources and financial sector so as to reduce information asymmetry before stepping into the overseas market via a video message.
